About two years ago I started adding more and more habits into my life. After focusing on daily reading and sports, on a more regularly basis, I also found out, that many successful people take time to collect there thoughts and experiences every day. First I wasn’t sure if this fits me right, but the more I read, the more I wanted to implement this habit as well.
After a Google search for “ways of daily journaling” I quickly decided for myself that I want to have an app for this, because I don’t want to carry a journal in form of a small notebook with me all the time.
One of the apps that I found on the App Store had the following bold claim: “The Five Minute Journal is the simplest, most effective way to become happier in 5 minutes a day with a simple journaling format built on proven principles of positive psychology.”
I quickly decided that I need to try it, so I immediately got the app and since that moment no day without journaling has passed. A new habit was implemented quickly and the Five Minute Journal is the first as well as the last thing that I do every day.
How does the Five Minute Journal Work?
Basically it’s very simply and it will only take you three minutes in the morning and two more in the evening. You get to answer three questions in the morning and two questions in the evening. In addition you have to select one photo that you’ve taken during the day, to remember you about how unique this day was.
Three things to fill out in the morning:
I am grateful for …
What will I do to make today great?
Daily affirmations. I am
Two things to fill out + photo in the evening:
3 Amazing things that happened today…
How could I have made today even better?
